Russian petrochemical company Sibur has developed new grades of solution-polymerised styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) for future tire products.
Sibur told ERJ that its innovations R&D centre in association with Voronezhsintezkauchuk had developed the new grades of SSBR.
The product line, it said, was “one of the most promising products of the Voronezh plant intended to manufacture low rolling resistance and high grip road tires.”
The technology was piloted to deliver two rubber grades: SSBR-HV and SSBR-LV, designed for different types of tires. The pilot products will be shipped to offshore consumers for testing.
The commercial-scale production process is scheduled to come on-stream next year, according to Sibur.
The SSBR-HV and SSBR-LV grades will “spawn new generations of styrene butadiene rubbers,” a company statement concluded.
